After about two days of using a cold compress, then you can begin to switch over to a heating pad. The warm heat from the pad will soothe the aching muscles. This will increase the amount of blood flow to your back and your body will begin the healing process to relieve your hurting muscles. This type of treatment will only last about the first week after your back injury before your body becomes accustomed to it.
2. BUILDING YOUR CORE
Obviously, exercising is great for your body at any given time, but it’s especially great when your back is acting up. Building the core muscles in your stomach will take the pressure off of your lower back by helping those muscles get the stretching that they so desperately need. Aerobic activity, flexibility exercises, and strength training are usually the three recommendations that doctors will prescribe for patients that are having trouble with their lower backs.

The chiropractor may recommend an alignment or spinal manipulation, which is a treatment where he or she will apply direct pressure to your lower back and ease the pain by placing your body in the correct spinal alignment.
